Recycling FAQ

1.0 - General FAQ

We recycle many items for FREE but unfortunately, we have to charge for difficult to recycle items like mattresses and Freon (CFC/HCFC) bearing appliances to defer some of the costs of labor. Please check current recycling cost on the item’s specific page for latest prices.

Although some companies do not accept items to be recycled unless they are in working condition, we do accept appliances, electronics, and anything metal, no matter the condition, we will accept them even if they are broken or taken apart. The reason that we stand out from other companies is that we accept all items because we have the means to recycle the individual components when the item is no longer working.

We have an easy to follow 4 step process to get your pickup scheduled.

Step 1 – Add your items to recycle

Step 2 – Add any additional items

Step 3 – Overview your cart

Step 4 – Enter your address to get a detailed pricing quote (no hidden fees), and if you are happy with the price, you can simply add the rest of your payment information and submit your order.

Done – After scheduling your recycling pickup, you will receive an email confirmation containing your order information and invoice.

If you still have questions, you can call us.

The long answer is Maybe

We generally don’t charge for pickups if you have lots of ewaste that needs to be recycled. This is because the items that get recycled has some value. In fact you may even get a check in the mail. Many of our customers have seen checks ranging anywhere from $100 to $5000 in some cases even more. It all depends on the quantity type and age of the ewaste.

Due to recent changes in the recycling industry, new rules and regulations coupled with increasing labor cost the cost of recycling went up.

Our average cost for recycling is just under a hundred dollars per pickup, this covers the cost for the drivers salary, insurance, workers comp and cost for sorting and final disposition.

6.0 - Pickup FAQ

Yes, we do! Our standard pickup service covers a curbside pickup (other options available).
This means that you pay online and leave your item anywhere outside for us to pick it up. Most homeowners prefer this arrangement as it is convenient and not intrusive at all. You don’t have to be home, and we don’t have to invade your privacy.

Note: If you live in an apartment or think your HOA will complain about the item on the curb/outside, simply leave a note “SCHEDULED FOR PICK-UP” on your item. This will assure them that you are not abandoning an item and that it will be removed promptly.

We can pick your items up for a fee which is calculated based on how many miles away you are from our facility. The further away you are, the more expensive the cost. You can get a quote by simply typing in your address in STEP 4 after adding the items to be picked up to your cart in STEP 1.

If you don’t want to leave it on the curb or in the driveway then we understand, we can also pick up items from inside your home. Note: There will be an additional fee for removing items from inside your house. See “Item Location” in STEP 4.

Yes, you can choose a specific recycling pickup date and time during the scheduling process. You will have an option to select the date and time in STEP 4.
Please note: There will be an additional fee if you need a specific 2-hour time window. We will send out a dedicated truck to your location to be there on time.

Yes, but only on Saturdays. We are always closed on Sunday.

Don’t want to leave your items for recycling on the curb? No problem. We can either collect it from your garage at no extra charge or from inside your house/apartment for an added fee. No need to haul heavy equipment around, let us do the hard work.

If you live in an apartment building you can leave the small items outside the apartment door, this way we will not invade your privacy when we pick up.
Larger items can be moved to your carport or even into the a uncovered parking area with a note saying “Scheduled for Recycling pickup”.
If no other option is available you can leave larger items inside your unit, but there will be an additional fee involved (See “Item Location” in STEP 4).

Customer service is our highest priority, so we will go out of our way to pick up your items on the day you’ve requested.

However, unforeseen circumstances such as weather conditions, traffic, or workload might prevent us from picking up your items on the day you’ve requested. If this unlikely scenario arises, we will come out the following business day to grab your items.

We will be in touch via email or phone if we are unable to pick up your items on the day you’ve scheduled.

We will pick up your items on the day that you selected during the scheduling process, with exceptions***

Keep in mind that we now service the whole Portland Metropolitan and Vancouver area. This means that we might have to group pickups that are more than 30 miles away together to keep prices as low as possible for our customers.

It can be very hard to judge how long each individual pickup will take. We also never know when a truck will have to go back to headquarters to unload if it becomes full during recycling pickups.
For this reason, it is not always possible for us to guarantee that we will be able to pick up your items on the day you requested (99.99% of all pickups are picked up on the requested day).
We will send you an email if we cannot pick up on the day that you scheduled your pickup. Your patience in this respect will be greatly appreciated.

***If you schedule your pickup late in the day it might not be picked up the same day
***Due to traffic and weather conditions out of our control we might not pick up on the scheduled day
***If we are already fully booked for the day you selected

Yes! Just enter the address for your storage locker and we will meet you there to remove your unwanted items. You must be available to meet us at the storage facility so we can gain access. We will call you 15 to 30 minutes ahead of time

  1. The cost would be based on the current pricing as per the website.
  2. You don’t have to pay the pickup fee again, only for the additional items.
  3. You can pay the driver in Cash or Check.
  4. If you previously paid by credit card we can charge the same card. We just need the security code on the back of the card. You can give it to the driver or call it in.

CREDIT CARD SECURITY – Our credit card merchant will only show the last for digits of the card that was previously used. So all your information is secure, we don’t keep the credit card on file.

7.0 - Appliance Recycling FAQ

1 – EPA regulations, section 608 of the Clean Air Act include requirements for the safe disposal of refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment. These requirements are designed to minimize refrigerant emissions when these appliances are disposed.

2 – The Metallic Discards Act of 1991 banned major appliances such as refrigerators, water heaters, washers, dryers, and air conditioners from landfill disposal and required them to be recycled for their metal content.

Yes. Any Freon bearing items require a recycling fee to handle the hazardous chemicals.  Please check current recycling cost on the item specific page for latest prices. If the unit has had its compressor removed we are required by law to ask for a certificate of freon removal.

Unlike other companies, we DO accept appliances and anything metal that are broken or in bad shape. We are not picky because we have the means to recycle all of the individual components. Recycling is our job, not merely the reselling of appliances in working condition. This is why we ask a minimal fee to pick-up your appliance: We take on the bigger task of taking appliances apart and recycling all of the material appropriately

Currently we don’t buy any appliances from the public.

Recycling is very important as waste has a huge negative impact on the natural environment. Your mattress uses a lot of landfill space. Recycle with us and help do your part for the environment.
